Clinical information

Vague abdominal pain and some weight loss.

The mass measures 3 x 4 cm.

The rest of the stomach wall and pancreas are normal

CT scan 3 There is a large polypoid lesion in the stomach that biopsy proved to be a malignant stomach carcinoma

This is another lesion related to the stomach in a 70 year old male patient

The lesion is moderately vascularized

The lesion is larger than the previous one and measures 6 cm.

The underlying pancreas is normal

Conclusion

Ultrasound is not the method of choice to examine the stomach, but this doesn't mean that stomach abnormalities can sometimes be picked up with ultrasound. Both rounded mass lesion are related to the stomach but are of a different nature one a polypoid stomach carcinoma and the other a GIST.
